Ever heard of the dancing goat story?
In the 6th century, in Ethiopia, a goat herder named Kaldi was out in the fields, watching his wandering goats as they sampled berries from nearby bushes. These beautiful looking red and green cherries were vibrant, full of sap. Ordinarily sluggish, his goats had an unusual surge of energy after eating the ripe red cherries. They started jumping around, looking like they were dancing, thus, ‘The dancing goats’.
A this point, Kaldi decided to taste the red cherries. He discovered that they were the cause of the increased energy.
It wasn’t long before coffee beans and their stimulating effect traveled far and wide.
Who knew that goats would discover the most loved and popular breakfast beverage!
QUALITY & DEDICATION
True to our slogan (Rich, smooth, low acid coffee), we remain vigilant in our sourcing methods to bring quality to our customers, while taking care of the farmers. The longer we’ve pursued great coffee, the more eager we’ve been to share it with our guests far and near. The wider our circle of customers and partnerships has grown, the harder we’ve chased after great coffee to strengthen those relationships.
These pursuits also connect us back in time. From the moment that Ethiopian goat herder, Kaldi saw his flock eating mysterious seeds in the hills of 6th century Ethiopia, coffee has been stimulating excitement and connecting people all over the world. Today, centuries later, we take part in the same story.
Wherever our coffee is served, we feel the same excitement when a coffee from the farmers comes to life in your cup.
The same fulfillment comes to life with taking care of the farmers, by donating 10% of the proceeds to support the coffee growing villages.
